When this class first started I thought it would be pure hell, but now we’re at mid-terms and I realized it’s really not as bad as I suspected. It was really hard and stressful with the whole professor change and trying to get all of the supplies for your class in such little time, but I pushed myself and now this little stressful step in my college journey is half way done. The class structure is nothing like what I had in mind, I must say it’s a very extraordinary class. I figured we would be reading tons of short stories, giving presentations, and learning more about the writing process, but I guess I was completely off. I really enjoy this class and I feel it challenges me and pushes me to actually get my shit done.
The readings that you’ve chosen for this class so far I really don’t like as much as you and a few other people do but I don’t really have a choice, do I? I’m hoping the other books we have yet to read will be more interesting and I can comprehend easier. I really love how you try to make us comfortable with each other and how you try to get everyone connected in the class. I was so happy whenever you started putting us in little groups, I feel it really helped me actually understand the stuff I was reading and it made me feel more comfortable. I can be a shy girl, especially at eight in the morning, but once I’m comfortable with the environment around me, you would probably wish I would never talk. The poetry in the class is probably another one of my favorites, I can’t wait to do the poetry book and design mine in a unique way. I am an art major and love being creative.
I really enjoy you as a professor and the ways you teach your students. It’s a new and different way of learning compared to all of the other professors. You probably will be one of the professors I will remember well after my college years. It’s not every day you hear your professor laying out the “f- bomb”. Some of my goals in this class is obviously getting a good grade and passing, but not only that I really needed help with cutting the story’s down and comprehending them and I feel this class is helping with that a lot. Sometimes when I read things if it don’t interest me it is hard for me to make myself understand what I’m really reading. Some other goals in this class are to learn not to procrastinate, and with loads of work in here and having to post our homework into blogs and such really helps. I feel that using word press it really gives us a chance to express ourselves. It gives us the chance to look at other classmates work and see different ways to do our writings.
I think you should continue to keep your teaching ways, they are an excellent way of learning and I definitely think you should continue to use the little group discussions. Some personal suggestions of mine would maybe choice books that would actually interest the classmates as well as you. Thank you for giving me a kick in the butt and pushing me in gear to my higher education. It is really a fun class, and I enjoy learning different ways.
